Monetary Value of Time

Time has always been considered an asset since time immemorial. People that have had mastery of time have always ruled others. Alexander the Great took ride on Bucephalus, the wild horse that broke the spine of best rider solders because he took his time to study the horse while others were interested in the benefits that will accrue and he eventually rode the same horse to conquer the world at age 19. The Bible talks about children of Issachar who were men that understood time so Israel were at their command.

To be in command, be in control of time!

They say, "time is money". Time is an abstractive asset but it's value is absolute, measurable and touchable. Though time is an invaluable 'resources', it derives it's value from material evidence of a prior investment in it. It is interesting to note that your disposable income is a derivative of your time. This makes time a tradable and marketable asset. How much do your business or employer pay you per minute?

Here is the formula:

V(T)=Di/t + k(t)

Where

V(T) is Monetary value of time (MVT).

Di is disposable income.

t is time.

k(t) is a measure current market value of your idea.

k(t)= mv/iv where mv is market value and iv is intrinsic value.

k(t)=0 where your idea market value is unknown.

This formula is for the working class, owners of business, it calculates your worth per minute and It's measured in $/min (dollar per minute) or NGN/min (naira/minute).

If you work in an organization and you earn (take home pay) NGN100,000.00 per month all things being equal. Assume a 30days a month. Di=100,000.00. t=30*24*60=43200minutes a month. Assume k(t)=0. Then:

_V(T)=Di/t + k(t)_ =100,000.00/43200

V(t)=2.31ngn/minute.

If you earn 100,000.00 monthly then your MVT is

2naira 31kobo per minute.

Again, how much are you worth per minute? Calculate!

This calculation and the outcome should open your mind to the reasons why all those bills are not paid and give you a platform for thinking on how to make changes happen.

Make every minute a worthwhile and your life will be better for it. Invest your time wisely, kill the time wasters and maximize every opportunity around you.
